NAPW Kalamazoo, MI Chapter Received Investment Tips from Certified Financial Planner Pam Blodgett at April Networking Event

Members and guests of the NAPW Kalamazoo, MI Local Chapter gathered on April 17th for a professional networking meeting at The Wine Loft in Kalamazoo.

Certified Financial Planner and Chapter member Pam Blodgett delivered a presentation on finances and investing to the group of professional women.

Attendees also discussed member benefits, establishing the Chapter’s Facebook Page and topics and speakers for upcoming meetings.

NAPW Kalamazoo Local Chapter President Tammy Gleeson opened what was the Chapter’s second meeting by welcoming members and guests.

She discussed the agenda with meeting participants.

Each member and guest introduced herself and discussed her interests, occupation and goals. The President then introduced the guest speaker, Kalamazoo Chapter member Pam Blodgett, CFP, RFC, LUTCF.

“Pam Blodgett has been working in the financial services industry for over 25 years,” said Chapter President Tammy Gleeson.

“She discussed the startup of her business and her extent of services. Her presentation focused on women and finance and investment.”

Ms. Blodgett explained to the group how women are the leaders of finance in their households.

She said women tend to make the decisions in regard to the financial planner with which their families make alliance.

“Pam truly believes integrity, ethical conduct and client service are of high importance, as well as building long-term client relationships,” said President Gleeson.

“She also believes that educating clients is the key to helping them make the best decisions for themselves and their families.”

Pam Blodgett is also currently working on developing and implementing a nonprofit organization, “One Less Tear.” She told the group of professional women that her dream for this organization is to provide medical prescription and emotional support to those adults who live every day with Type I Diabetes Mellitus and fall through the cracks of today’s healthcare system.

The Chapter President engaged members in a discussion about the many benefits of NAPW membership. The group of professional women also talked about how the Kalamazoo Chapter could get involved in various social media sites such as a Facebook Page, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

Tammy stated that she would go ahead and start the Local Chapter Facebook page prior to the next meeting and will send out information once the page is up and running.

“We also discussed topics/speakers for upcoming meetings. This included speakers for women’s health, balancing life and business, business expansion, marketing, leadership skills and empowerment and promotion of business/personal success,” said President Tammy Gleeson.

The Chapter President asked members to contact her if they had any speaker in mind for upcoming meetings. If any member herself is willing to be a speaker, that was also encouraged and welcomed. Tammy also made members aware that all meetings begin at 6:30pm and that locations of upcoming meetings with dates are on the Chapter page.

Meeting minutes will be made available.

Upcoming Kalamazoo Local Chapter Meeting dates: May 15th, Guest speakers: Trish and Dr. Brian Hays Topic: Acupuncture and manipulation and how it decreases stress, injuries and improves health; May 19th, Kalamazoo Susan Komen Race for the Cure. Tammy invited members to be a part of the TSI Titty Committee or make donations for the run.

The race starts at 2:10pm at the Arcadia Creek Festival Site downtown Kalamazoo. June 1st, Get Your Colon Rollin’ 5K run/walk. Tammy encouraged members to participate in colon cancer awareness. The race is in Battle Creek Linear Trail/Bailey Park. Members and guests can sign up at roadrunner.com. July 24th, Premier Jewelry, guest speaker Ann Marie Frame will discuss business development and members will be able to view and purchase jewelry.

Members attending the April 17th meeting included Sue Brannum, Agency Owner of Assurance Resources LLC. She is a Landstar agent, providing supply chain solutions and complete global and domestic transportation services. Guests attending this meeting included Colleen Henning and Stephanie Robinson.
